New ICA Report: Critique of Federal Climate Policy Plans

Indigenous Climate Action, in collaboration with researchers Dr. Jen Gobby, Rebecca Sinclair, and Rachel Ivey, have released an in-depth critical analysis of Canada’s recent climate policy and plans: the Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change (PCF) and A Healthy Environment, A Healthy Economy (HEHE). This is the first phase of a two part Decolonizing Climate Policy in Canada project.

Resumen de la evaluación de las necesidades de la juventud de la ACI - ¡Apoye a la juventud indígena!

Over the summer, the ICA team and a student research partner completed a “Youth Needs Assessment” to identify the motivations and challenges faced by Indigenous youth engaged in climate and Indigenous rights advocacy work. The assessment is directing the future of our Youth Program to make it relevant to the needs, experiences and aspirations of Indigenous youth.

On March 10th, 2018, over 6500 Indigenous and settler peoples from across Turtle Island -- including Indigenous representatives from the tar sands, Standing Rock and as far east as the Mohawk and Anishnaabe territory -- came together to stand in solidarity a the Protect the Inlet events with the Coast Salish Nations challenging the expansion of the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain pipeline.

#JusticeforColten: We can’t talk about TRC while simultaneously sanctioning violence & hate

The verdict in the Stanley Boushie case does not support this. In fact, it has a message to society at large that Colten’s death was warranted, that we should be sorry for the perpetrator, and ultimately Colten got what he deserved. I find myself at a loss of how to respond to such a sick and twisted expression of pure apathy for human life.
